GirlbossGuide // Productivity & Studying

Hey! Something that I started for myself is the #GirlbossGuide . I will be posting articles to help you become a better you!
Work hard in silence, let the success make the noise.
Everyone has those days where they're laying in bed debating on whether or not they should do the mountain of studying they need to do. Well, I'm here to help!

1. Location, Location, Location.

Where you study can be just as important as how you study! Being in a clean room filled with natural light, sitting or laying somewhere comfy (like your bed) can make you feel 10x more motivated to work. Try it!
2. The 30 Minute Rule

Did you know studying nonstop for a long chunk of time makes it hard for your brain to process all the information you're cramming into it? That's why you should follow the 30 minute rule! Basically, you study for 30 minutes without distraction, take a 5 minute break, and repeat. After four 30 minute study chunks, you can take a longer break. Instead of doing this manually on a timer, I recommend the app Focus Keeper by Limepresso. They do it all for you (this is not a promo)!

3. Know Your Learning Type

Make sure you know how you learn before you learn! Knowing how you can memorize and study at your best is really helpful. Here is a brief description of each of the 4 learning types and recommendations of how to study for each:
Visual Learners (me)- Learn best when they see the thing they're learning.
Ways to Learn- Flashcards, reading a book or paper on your topic, visual projects
Auditory Learners- Learn best when they hear the thing they're learning.
Ways to Learn- Lectures, podcasts/audiobooks, having information read to them
Reading/Writing Learners- Learn best when interacting with the text by reading and writing.
Ways to Learn- Quizzes, reading along with audio, writing what they have learned
Kinesthetic Learners- Learn best when doing hands-on activities.
Ways to Learn- Physical projects, Experimenting and playing with what they have learned

4. Plan it Out

This may not work out for everyone, but planning out my study schedule beforehand helps a lot! Make sure your schedule is realistic though. Don't try to accomplish too much is not enough time and always include short breaks.

5. Don’t wait, Do.

The best way to get something done is to just do it. Doing your work and getting it out of the way is a good habit. Start studying ASAP so you can have more time doing what you love. <3
