Hi again! Thank you for your kind responses to the introductory article of #GuideToGirlbossing series. As before mentioned, in this series I will explore and explain different aspects of a girlboss lifestyle. The first topic I’ve chosen to write about is how a girlboss behaves socially.

A girlboss is a woman who is goal-oriented and hardworking, a girl who has big dreams and is willing to work hard for them. Such women have a distinctive style of approaching social matters. They are confident, but nice. Ready to stand up for themselves and what they believe in, but simultaneously caring of others feelings. They are bold and outspoken, but polite at the same time. 

Below, I have written the full explanation of how you can act like a girlboss in social situations.

ⅠConfidence is key.

The first step to ensuring you act like a girlboss in social matters is to ensure that you are confident when approaching such matters. A girlboss knows what she wants and how to get it, and for this confidence is, of course, highly important. 

WHAT DOES CONFIDENCE MEAN?

Confidence does not mean that you should be on the go to handle and lead matters, talk to people or hold people under your command. Instead, it means that you should stay under the lines of politeness while doing these. A confident person is not necessarily one who can act freely and boldly in every situation, it is someone who is nice and caring while doing that.

HOW IS A GIRLBOSS CONFIDENT?

A girlboss steps out to participate, lead and help in worthy deemed activities. She organizes, mentors and produces products that are fruitful to all. She is ready to take command and stays in control. She handles matters with a smile, whether it is real or not. She is ready for public speaking, public activities and is polite and well managed in social activities and crises. She is always confident in her self and maintains a posture and speaking skill according to this. In simpler words, she is confident throughout all social situations.

ⅡPoliteness should be maintained.

Another significant tip is this – be polite and well mannered in front of everybody, in all situations. A girlboss is a boss woman - and when approaching careers, politeness is irreplaceable, which is why this tip is thoroughly significant. 

WHAT DOES POLITENESS MEAN?

Politeness is, of course, that you are high mannered and kind, but it actually means that you are polished and polite with everybody, at all times. It does not only include speaking terms – it also means that you have good etiquette and are caring of others feelings and comfortableness at all times, but also keep your own care in mind.

HOW IS A GIRLBOSS POLITE?

A girlboss uses brilliant language and is always maintaining a bright posture and statement. She holds intelligent conversations. She is mindful of others’ privacy, and caring for others’ comfortableness – but she is heedful of her position and is caring of her own situation at all times, along with managing others. She maintains her temper well and is not ruthless with people she does not like. Simply, she is polite and caring with everybody.

ⅢSelf care is not to be sacrificed upon.

A girlboss is, of course, considerate of everybody, but she also knows her own worth and defends herself upon it. To be a girlboss, you must learn to be confident in yourself and love yourself, because success is impossible if you do not support the person who is going to get it for you. 

WHAT DOES SELF CARE MEAN?

Self-care is not of the same meaning as selfishness, and there is a fine line between self-confidence and overconfidence. A girlboss is, of course, caring and considerate of all people, but this does not mean that you should set yourself on fire to keep others warm. Self-care in a girlboss social dictionary means that you care for others, but do not let anyone harm you and your worth.

HOW DOES A GIRLBOSS PRACTICE SOCIAL SELF CARE?

A girlboss ignores and disagrees with other people’s and society’s hateful remarks. She defends her worth, and the worth of all she believes in and works for. She is confident in her skin and is ready to speak out against things that are wrong. She does not let anybody attack her, her friends, her family or anyone she cares for. She devotes time to her care, and is always, always working on self-improvement.

Ⅳ Knowledge of how to act in different situations.

Above, I have written that a girlboss should always be polite and polished, but a girlboss should also know that along with being well mannered, the knowledge of how you should act in different social situations and settings is also highly important.

WHAT DOES KNOWING WHAT TO DO IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS MEAN?

Among friends, it is okay to be carefree and not so polished, but the same pretense cannot be held when you are in a professional environment. In the same way, there is a difference between how you act around your close family and extended family, among co-workers and among bosses, among friends and among acquaintances, etc.

HOW DOES A GIRLBOSS BEHAVE IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

A girlboss is polite and kind in all social situations, this must always be remembered. It is alright and inviting to be who you are in the mood to be amongst close friends, but you should be more in control when you are among friends and acquaintances. Respect should be maintained when in the presence of people older and on higher positions than you. As aforementioned, it is perfectly okay to swear or just let loose when with close family, but calm should be kept when with extended family or acquaintances. Basically, you should be well aware of what each situation demands, but of course, politeness and kindness are always important.

Ⅴ The fine line between when to be considerate and when not to be.

A girlboss is always considerate and caring of everybody, but you should know that sometimes the situation or the person demands a different outlook. It is alright to call out people who are being rude, uncaring and ignorant, but you should never consent to violence. A phrase to keep in mind is this - do no harm, but take no shit.

HOW DOES A GIRLBOSS MANAGE THIS LINE?

As a girlboss, you should be sweet and kind with everybody, but when it comes to defending something or someone worthy of it, it is okay to go on with it if you stay under the standards of being calm and collected during it. A girlboss calls out people who are behaving badly, but she should always stay polite and still considerate during it, and never consent to brutishness, cruelty or anger.

In the end, the ultimate girlboss is a woman who is confident and outspoken, a woman who is considerate and polite of everybody but also keeps in mind her goals, her worth, and her beliefs.
